As the 2016 NBA All-Star weekend makes its way to Toronto, there are a number of ways you can get involved in all the excitement. Scheduled to take place February 12 to 14th, the city is being transformed into a hub for sports fans, sneakerheads and media, alike. While tickets to official NBA events will cost you, there are alternative options that will give you a taste of the experience without the hefty price tag.
With the help of NIKE, Livestock on Spadina has been transformed into a Pop Up shop that will be featuring the new Air Force 1. Other releases, including the tech knit and All-Star apparel, will also be made available throughout the week.
The Pop Up includes Flynit inspired fixtures and displays, tech knit apparel wall displays, custom light boxes, and a custom city scape of Toronto - all relating to the history and different elements that have either inspired, or been associated with the AF1 throughout the silhouettes storied history and evolution. The jewel of the build out is a display case full of samples and exclusive AF1’s shipped out straight from the vaults at Nike HQ in Oregon.
The technological advancements in design can be seen from 1982 - 2015, including the first use of woven uppers, the first use of laser on the exterior, vac tech, lunarlon, luxury premium materials and handmade craftsmanship. Some featured iconic sneakers include the luxurious italian leathered lows, steel toe’d Swat team hi’s, Rasheed Wallace Sheedman’s, Inside out leather midsoled AF1’s, Jordan Hybrids, Foamposite Hybrids, to Ricardo Tisci hi’s and Acronym zippered lows
