SUMMER SIXTEEN

SUMMER SIXTEEN

After what feels like the longest break from blogging, I am getting back into the action and am going to try to recap everything i've been up to over the past couple of months. On top of moving, travelling back and forth from Los Angeles and Toronto, working alongside a number of different companies and trying to establish my career path in the next four to six months, I have dedicated a significant amount of time to practicing yoga, reading every single book written by Deepak Chopra and changing my lifestyle habits. If you know me personally, you've probably picked up on the fact that I rarely go out in the nightclub scene anymore. It wasn't a choice I made overnight, but I feel like the changes that have come as a result of staying in have changed my life in a dramatic way. Not only have I found a new passion for so many different hobbies - like cooking, dance, and my personal favourite, yoga - but I've also taken the time to get to know my body in a way that I had previously never explored. If you follow me on social media, you've probably noticed that I stopped 'shooting' in Toronto for the most part. To be completely honest, it's not because I have given up on working with creatives; I am simply looking for a new path to explore my creativity and put my energy towards new ideas that will not only further my ability to work with the people and brands I love, but to also allow those that I surround myself with to grow with me. I turned 22 this year, and for some reason it has been one of the most eyeopening years so far. Last year I went through a really bad break up - it changed me, left me in a rut and eventually I put up so many walls, I basically lived in my own bubble. I knew that in order to grasp ahold of the world around me and further my understanding of who I am as an individual in this environment that is constantly blurred, I needed to take some time for myself. And so here I am, laying it all out in a couple hundred words, hoping you are all still around to follow me on my journey.

Cheers to Summer Sixteen!

All-Star 2016

As the 2016 NBA All-Star weekend makes its way to Toronto, there are a number of ways you can get involved in all the excitement. Scheduled to take place February 12 to 14th, the city is being transformed into a hub for sports fans, sneakerheads and media, alike. While tickets to official NBA events will cost you, there are alternative options that will give you a taste of the experience without the hefty price tag.

With the help of NIKE, Livestock on Spadina has been transformed into a Pop Up shop that will be featuring the new Air Force 1. Other releases, including the tech knit and All-Star apparel, will also be made available throughout the week.

The Pop Up includes Flynit inspired fixtures and displays, tech knit apparel wall displays, custom light boxes, and a custom city scape of Toronto - all relating to the history and different elements that have either inspired, or been associated with the AF1 throughout the silhouettes storied history and evolution. The jewel of the build out is a display case full of samples and exclusive AF1’s shipped out straight from the vaults at Nike HQ in Oregon.

The technological advancements in design can be seen from 1982 - 2015, including the first use of woven uppers, the first use of laser on the exterior, vac tech, lunarlon, luxury premium materials and handmade craftsmanship. Some featured iconic sneakers include the luxurious italian leathered lows, steel toe’d Swat team hi’s, Rasheed Wallace Sheedman’s, Inside out leather midsoled AF1’s, Jordan Hybrids, Foamposite Hybrids, to Ricardo Tisci hi’s and Acronym zippered lows

If you are in the city, please make sure to stop by the shop at 116 Spadina unit G1 while the temporary build out is up. | http://deadstock.ca

It should come to no surprise that NIKE is going to be leaving a huge footprint in Toronto. In anticipation of the weekend events, the public will have the opportunity to sign-up for different events, beginning February 11th. A map of the locations can be found, here

Reserve your spot and visit SNKRSEXPRESS, play on the Jordan Brand Court or join an Open Run.

For those looking to take part in some of the hottest events, a list of nightclubs will be featuring 4AM last call and special guests throughout the weekend.

YESJULZ will be hosting a number of events, including the exclusive Black and Gold Collection launch event alongside GETATKAT and JACFLASH on February 9th, and 1AMVIBES at Ballet on Ossington, later that evening.

You can find Jazz Cartier at 2016 launch of BUTTER, from 3-9pm on the 13th of February.

The 2016 All-Star Game is set to go down on Sunday, February 14th, 2016 at the Air Canada Centre. The full weekend schedule can be found here

Resolutions

These past few weeks have been so overwhelming! Sorry I've been so MIA. !!!
Between finals, the holiday workload and getting ready for Christmas, I finally feel like I'm free to chill and get some R&R. I'm going to be back and forth between Toronto until I fly to St. Lucia on the 2nd so I'm looking forward to ending this year on a clear note.

As 2016 approaches, I've been contemplating my New Year's resolution and jotting down mental notes of some of the things I want to accomplish in the next twelve months. While maintaining my blog and working with new creatives, I hope to launch my own company - business? - and can't wait for you all to see what I have in store.

It might not be my day, but it's going to be my year

I've learned so much this year and couldn't possibly name all of the incredible individuals i've met along the way. Stepping outside my comfort zone, making the creative energy in my head come to life, working with brands that I love and getting the feedback I need to grow has taught me so much about myself and the world around me. I love taking pictures and being apart of the creative process but what drives me is the reaction and response I get from others. I have such an inspiring circle and feel so blessed to have the unconditional love from my friends and family, as well as the support from all of you.

A Semi-Charmed Life has been picked up by three publications (so far) and i'm stoked!

Stay tuned xx 2016 is going to be NUTS!!
