For the record, I can't believe September flew by so quickly. After a couple of days off at the end of August, I was in the process of moving and have been going non-stop ever since. Between work, finishing Uni and transitioning everything in between, I feel like the past month gave me the opportunity to find a balance between work and play. I deactivated my Instagram account on the 24th of August and definitely thought I would have brought it back by now. I wouldn't say that I feel the pressure to be active on social media, but the thought gives me anxiety. Taking over a month off has really put things into perspective, encouraging me to network and grow as an individual while establishing myself in an industry that is constantly changing. Taking the time to understand the rules gives you the opportunity to break them - or play by your own rules - which is exactly how I plan to dedicate my time and energy over the next few months. I remember when I went on a Snapchat rant about how people in power, specifically high profiled Instagram users, forget to use their reach as a means of initiating conversation about key issues and encouraging change in the world. Over the next few months, I plan on getting involved in different initiatives across the city and hope to bring important issues to the frontline of conversation both at home and abroad.

Oftentimes we fail to recognize how the issues occurring around the world can hit home for many of us. With a lack of representation in the news media, I feel it's our responsibility as influencers to be the force that drives change for current and future generations.
